Important Notice:

Please note that due to a regional shortage of dentists, PHC currently has a very limited amount of available appointments, both for urgent and non-urgent dental needs. We are working hard to serve as many patients as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Urgent and Emergency appointments are available in the PHC dental clinic on a walk-in basis. These appointments are reserved for emergency extractions and/or for patients experiencing severe pain and/or swelling. The emergency clinic opens at 7:15am on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; on Tuesday the emergency clinic opens at 9:00am.  Appointments are on a first come, first served basis and you do not need to be an established dental patient in order to be eligible for an urgent/emergency appointment. PHC Dental closes at 5pm but please note that most urgent/emergency appointments are filled during the first hour of the day.  Patients are encouraged to call PHC Dental at (406) 258-4185 with any questions about how to access dental care.

Dental Emergencies

Urgent, same-day appointments are available on a walk-in basis in Missoula. These appointments are reserved for emergency extractions and/or for patients experiencing a lot of pain. Sign up for same-day urgent care dental appointments begins at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. If we have more patients than appointments, we will add people to a short call list and work them in on cancellations throughout the day.

You may complete forms online before coming to the clinic.
You do not have to be an established dental patient in order to be eligible for an emergency appointment.

A Message from PHC Dental:

Our dental office is taking every precaution to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff. In Montana, most dentist offices are open and providing routine care.  We offer the following guidance to anyone wondering about when to go to the dentist, and how to stay safe and healthy during this time.

  • What should I do if I have tooth or mouth pain?
    • If your mouth or teeth hurt, or you think you have a dental emergency, your first step should not be to go to the emergency room.  Instead, call your dental provider or local community health center.  Tell them how you feel, including if you have a fever, cough, or chest pain.  Your dental team will tell you what to do next.  Your dental team will tell you what to do next.  Your dentists may talk with you about your symptoms on the phone or over video chat.
      • *Calling your dentist and asking for guidance before going to the emergency room is an important step to reduce the burden on busy Emergency Room teams.
  • What are some examples of dental emergencies?
    • Very bad toothache pain (not just a twinge)
    • Swollen gums, face, or neck
    • Bleeding in your mouth that does not stop
    • Infection or a substantial risk of it
    • Recent trauma to the mouth
  • Tips for practicing good hygiene
    • Take care of your teeth and mouth.  Brush and floss your teeth, clean your tongue, swish, and spit.  Gargle twice with mouthwash.
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water.  Scrub for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap is not available.
    • Don't touch your face
    • Cover coughs and sneezes  with the inside of your elbow or upper arm
    • Stay home if you are feeling sick, and seek appropriate medical guidance.

Partnership Health Center respectfully acknowledges that we occupy the traditional homelands of the Séliš, Qĺispé, and Ktunaxa-Ksanka nations. We also recognize that these lands are a site of trade, medicine gathering, healing, and travel for other Native tribes in the area and is still home for many Indigenous people. We extend our gratitude for those who have stewarded this land since time immemorial.

We acknowledge that the health care system has played a role in the oppression of Indigenous peoples. We commit to ongoing learning about the impact of colonization on the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples, and we commit to meaningful action that reverses health inequities.
